GC/Chlamydia universal testing swabs (Aptima Multi-Test) starting March 31, 2021. The same swab can be used to collect specimens from the vagina, rectum or pharynx. Swab is approved for BOTH clinician and patient collected samples.
Sample Source
- Vaginal: insert swab 5cm past introitus and gently swab for 10-30 sec making sure swab touches vaginal walls
- Pharyngeal: insert into throat with contact with bilateral tonsils (if present) and posterior pharyngeal wall
- Rectal: insert swab 3-5cm past anal margin (outside of anus) and gently rotate for 5-10sec.
Type of Specimen
- Biological Female: Vaginal (preferred over urine), Urine (first void)
- Biological Male: Urine (first void) only
